Congratulations to Dr Maria Dudycz, FACLM, who has been inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2018!
Maria originally came from a low socio-economic background, however she went on to study medicine and law at the University of Melbourne and has now been a Senior Member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal for 15 years. Maria played a key role in developing the Disability Act 2006 and has worked to advocate and protect the rights of persons with disabilities.

The Minister for Women in Victoria, the Honourable Natalie Hutchins, commented, “Women like Dr Maria Dudycz inspire me every day. As Minister for Women I’m privileged to meet and work with trailblazing Victorians like her.”
Dr Dudycz was a Councillor and Chair of the Victorian Division of ACLM between 1998 – 2003, and on the Special Applications Subcommittee during the same period. Maria explains that “the College [ACLM] had equal representation of women in the Victorian Division in 1998 demonstrating lack of gender bias and diversity. This gave me an opportunity for personal growth which I acknowledge with gratitude.”
Since the Victorian Honour Roll commenced in 2001, over 600 inductees have been recognised and celebrated for their outstanding achievements as women leaders, as part of the Victorian Government’s gender equality strategy, Safe and Strong. By highlighting their achievements, the strategy challenges entrenched biases about women in leadership positions.
Maria encourages everyone to be alert to the many women in the College and in work places who have made outstanding contributions, and to take the opportunity to nominate them for recognition of their achievements.
