Important message from the President:

To our valued members and wider community,

The past month has seen the COVID-19 situation in Australia escalate rapidly, particularly in Victoria and New South Wales. Our thoughts are with all of our members in affected areas and we sincerely hope that you and your families stay safe and well.

The situation remains precarious for other states, and so we fully understand the decision of many states to maintain tight restrictions on non-essential travellers, as is the current decision of Tasmania.

ACLM places a high importance on the health and safety of all persons, including our members and the wider public. We have been closely monitoring the developments and assessing the possible impact on our upcoming events.

Due to health risks, along with ongoing changes to border closures, travel restrictions and quarantine measures in each state, the ACLM Council has decided to postpone the 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting – Legal Aspects of Child and Adolescent Health, which was to be held in Hobart later this year.

We intend to postpone the entire event to 2021, with the location (Hobart, Tasmania) and theme remaining the same. The new date is to be determined later this year and will be influenced by our speakers’ and venue availability.

The ACLM Council is also exploring online delivery methods for upcoming events. The 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held via an online videoconferencing platform. More details will be announced soon.

We thank you for your continued support during these challenging times. We hope that you, along with your family and your community, stay safe throughout the months ahead.

Dr Adam Griffin
ACLM President
